Jean Marie R. Pechette Joins McDermott’s Health Law Practice in Chicago

CHICAGO (October 20, 2009) — McDermott Will & Emery LLP today announced that Jean Marie R. Pechette has joined the Firm's Chicago office as a partner in the Health Law Department.  Ms. Pechette will focus her practice on information technology and intellectual property matters, with a concentration on the health care industry.

Anthony, head of McDermott's international Health Law Department.  "Jean brings a wealth of experience representing and counseling industry leaders in healthcare and information technology."

Ms. Pechette comes to McDermott from a mid-sized New York based firm, where she also focused her practice on information technology and intellectual property matters within the healthcare industry.  In this position, she represented the commercial interests of providers of medical devices, electronic records, and clinical information systems, as well as provided counsel on HIPAA, the HITECH Act, and a number of regulatory compliance issues.  Previously, Ms. Pechette was Associate General Counsel at GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric Company, where she oversaw legal matters for the company's clinical information technology and image archiving business units.

Ms. Pechette is the co-chair of the Life Sciences and Physical Sciences Division of the Section of Science and Technology Law of the American Bar Association.  She is also an Honorary Member of the Board of Directors of the Asian American Bar Association of Chicago.  She received her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law and her B.A. from Indiana University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
