McDermott's M&A Practice Among Leading Players According to 2007 League Tables
CHICAGO (January 17, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is delighted to announce that the Firm was again ranked among the leading M&A firms in a number of league tables for the fourth quarter of 2007 and year end published by Bloomberg's M&A Legal Advisory, Mergermarket, Mergerstat and Thomson Financial's Mergers & Acquisitions Review. Bloomberg ranked McDermott in the top 20 for Global Private Equity Announced Deals and U.S. Announced Deals. Mergermarket and Thomson Financial ranked the Firm in the top 15 for legal advisers in North American Buyouts and U.S. Target Deals Announced, respectively, among other rankings.
In 2007, McDermott received a number of rankings from Mergerstat. The Firm was ranked in the top 20 for U.S. Private Equity Advisors, as legal advisors based on U.S. announced deals, ranked by both enterprise value and by number of deals. Mergerstat also ranked McDermott among the leading 25 firms as top U.S. advisors, as legal advisors based on U.S. announced deals, by number of deals and enterprise value. The Firm ranked among the top U.S. Middle Market advisors by number of deals, and placed in the top Europe Advisors, as legal advisors on European announced deals, ranked by number of deals.
In the fourth quarter 2007 McDermott was involved in several high profile deals including the representation of The Genlyte Group Incorporated in connection with its definitive merger agreement with Philips Holding USA Inc. and the representation of the Tribune Company in its going private transaction through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). In September 2007, McDermott was recognized among the top 10 leading transactional law firms in Law Firm Leaders and Contenders in the Corporate Transactions Market, released by BTI Consulting. McDermott was identified as a "major player" among transactional law firms for both U.S. and cross-border transactions.
