Gordon Greenberg Named Among Top 100 Lawyers in California and 500 Leading Lawyers in America
LOS ANGELES (October 20, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Gordon A. Greenberg, Los Angeles office head and partner in the Firm's Trial Department, has been selected as a "Top 100 Lawyer in California" for 2008 by the Daily Journal and among the "500 Leading Lawyers in America" by Lawdragon. The 2008 list of Top 100 Lawyers in California focused on leaders who are helping to shape the future. Nominees were selected based on their outstanding work and their influence on the community, the business or the law.

Presently Mr. Greenberg is advising Firm clients in several high-profile cases. In public matters, Mr. Greenberg is representing Steven G. Schulman, former name partner of plaintiffs securities class action firm Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman, in a case concerning allegations of wrongful payments to shareholders to serve as plaintiffs in class action lawsuits. The case is the first prosecution of a major U.S. law firm and its name partners brought by the U.S. Department of Justice. Additionally Mr. Greenberg is currently representing Dr. Henry Samueli, former Chairman of the Board of Broadcom Corporation, in the largest backdating case pending in the United States. He is defending Dr. Samueli in a criminal case, SEC enforcement action and all related civil lawsuits.
Mr. Greenberg has more than 25 years of experience handling a wide range of business crime investigations and trials. He was a federal prosecutor, serving as the Chief of the Financial Investigations Unit in the Los Angeles U.S. Attorney's Office, and was also a state and special federal prosecutor in Chicago. As a prosecutor, Mr. Greenberg tried several precedent-setting cases that include U.S. v. Cuevas, the first extradition of an individual from Switzerland to the United States for money laundering-related offenses, and U.S. v. Barry Minkow, ZZZZ Best, et al., one of the largest securities/money laundering cases tried on the West Coast in the 1980s.
