McDermott Recognized for its Excellence in Litigation by American Lawyer
CHICAGO (January 2, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is delighted to be named on the "Honor Roll" in American Lawyer's Litigation Department of the Year issue. The Firm was recognized for its record of outstanding results for clients in high-stakes disputes and for the notable depth and breadth of talent that the Firm demonstrated in 2006 and 2007. Of the Am Law 200 firms that were invited to participate in this biennial process, McDermott was one of only 23 law firms recognized for their excellence in litigation.
American Lawyer has invited the Am Law 200 firms and litigation boutiques, every other year since 2002, to compete for its recognition as Litigation Department of the Year. The law firms are asked to report on their litigation record providing no more than five examples of significant achievements in various categories. The result was numerous submissions from hundreds of firms which the American Lawyer staff pored over for months to identify a short list of finalists. The finalists were then invited to meet with American Lawyer staff, as well as provide client references before the winners were chosen.
"This recognition by the American Lawyer confirms our view that we are becoming one of the best law firms in the world in the area of disputes and that the market is taking notice," commented Harvey W. Freishtat, Firm Chairman. "Congratulations to our Trial Department, including all of its attorneys and staff, and to all of our litigators, for the commitment to excellence and teamwork that this honor captures so well."
Jeffrey Stone, head of the Firm's Trial Department commented, "This honor reflects the exceptional work and service that our litigators provide to our clients."
American Lawyer honored McDermott stating, "Several of McDermott Will & Emery's most notable achievements in 2006 and 2007 occurred before trial." The publication noted McDermott’s work for Firm clients Amgen, Blackwater Security Consulting and Walgreens. For the 2008 awards, McDermott submitted a record of litigation results for clients across multiple designated categories and practice areas for the 18 month period beginning January 1, 2006.
