Miami Partner Elected as President of the Board of the Daily Bread Food Bank
MIAMI (July 1, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Bruce Berman, partner in the Firm's Trial Department based in Miami, has been elected as President of the Board of the Daily Bread Food Bank (Daily Bread), an affiliate of America's Second Harvest and the largest charitable organization feeding the hungry in South Florida. The Board of Directors of Daily Bread is a committed, passionate and diversified group of citizens dedicated to the mission of ending hunger in South Florida.
"I am honored by the opportunity, and invigorated by the challenges, of leading this dedicated organization during this time of increasing prices, concerns over food shortages and the critical need to serve more of South Florida's hungry families and children," commented Mr. Berman. "I look forward to engaging the many generous donors in our community to work with us in this vitally important mission."
Mr. Berman joined Daily Bread's Board of Directors in 2002, serving for the last six years as the organization's chief legal officer. He will serve a two-year term as the Board's President, commencing July 1, 2008.
The Daily Bread Food Bank, a not-for-profit organization, serves four counties from Palm Beach to the Florida Keys, impacting an estimated 116,900 people of which 63,618 reside in Miami-Dade County. Daily Bread empowers 800 other South Florida not-for-profit organizations to feed needy people and improve their lives by providing food and other grocery products, and by educating and engaging the community to fight hunger and poverty.
