Douglas E. Whitney Joins Trial Department
CHICAGO — The international law firm of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Douglas E. Whitney will be joining the Firm’s Trial Department as a partner. Mr. Whitney, who has extensive private practice and public service experience, will be resident in the Firm’s Chicago office.
Most recently, Mr. Whitney served as a staff attorney in the Federal Defender Program for the Northern District of Illinois. In this capacity, he represented criminal defendants and habeas corpus petitioners in federal district court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. At McDermott Mr. Whitney will focus his practice on complex civil and criminal litigation, including working closely with the Firm’s white-collar criminal defense practice group.

Mr. Whitney attended Yale University, earning his B.A. cum laude in history. He earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the New York University School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Whitney is admitted to practice in Illinois and Georgia, in addition to various district and federal courts.
