Art Sapper & Jim Lastowka Named Among “The Most Influential EHS Leaders”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 15, 2010) — McDermott Will & Emery partners, Art Sapper and Jim Lastowka, have been named among "The 50 Most Influential EHS Leaders" by EHS Today, The Magazine for Environment, Safety & Health Leaders. The list of leaders includes government appointees, legislators, presidents of professional associations, union leaders, industry leaders and litigators. Both Mr. Sapper and Mr. Lastowka are included among the five litigators selected.

Mr. Sapper is nationally known as an expert in OSHA law and litigation, with 36 years of experience in all areas of OSHA law and MSHA law, including inspections, litigation, rulemaking, counseling and lobbying. He litigates regularly before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, the federal appellate courts and various administrative bodies. Before joining the Firm, Mr. Sapper held the position of deputy general counsel of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. He is also a former special counsel and assistant general counsel to the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission. Mr. Sapper was also for nine years a professor of occupational safety and health law.
Mr. Lastowka is co-head of the Firm's OSHA, MSHA & Catastrophe Response Group. He has practiced exclusively in the field of occupational safety and health for close to 35 years. Mr. Lastowka is a recognized authority on occupational safety and health (OSHA) law and mine safety and health (MSHA) law, and has a nationwide safety and health practice. He is a former Commissioner and General Counsel of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, and a former Assistant General Counsel to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
