McDermott Will & Emery Announces Addition of Two New Partners in Securitisation & Structured Finance Group
LONDON (19 May 2008) – McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of two new partners in the Securitisation & Structured Finance Practice Group: Pierre Brochet joins the Firm this month and Abesh Choudhury will join on 1 July.
Both appointments bolster an already highly rated team, which has grown to six partners and six associates over the past 18 months. Pierre's and Abesh's appointments highlight the strengthening of the McDermott team in this area and reinforce the Firm's commitment to its numerous financial service clients and to investment in the growth of this important practice group.
Pierre joins the Firm from the London office of White & Case. He focuses on structured finance work, in particular synthetic collateralised debt obligations (CDOs). Pierre has broad experience in structured and straight debt securities issues. He also has experience with asset backed securitisations, convertible and exchangeable securities and repurchases and reschedulings of defaulted bonds.
Abesh will join the Firm from Dewey & LeBoeuf, where he was of counsel in their UK financial services regulatory practice. He advises all types of financial institutions (including investment banks, investment firms, exchanges, clearing and settlement systems and insurance firms) on UK and European financial regulatory issues and has advised a number of clients in establishing new funds, outsourcing arrangements and setting up UK representative offices and branches for foreign banks and investment firms.
Following the appointments, McDermott's co-head of its Securitisation & Structured Finance Practice Group, Paul-Michael Rebus, said: "Pierre and Abesh are fantastic appointments to the group and their experience will complement an already impressive team. Both appointments demonstrate the Firm's commitment to the Securitisation & Structured Finance Practice Group, which continues to enjoy growing success. Demand for our services continues to grow significantly and both Pierre and Abesh will be an integral part of the team to meet this demand."
Doron F. Ezickson, London office head and head of the Firm's European practice, added: "The Firm is committed to continuing investment in the London office as a major pillar in our European network. The expansion of this key practice area is in line with our growth strategy and we are delighted that Pierre and Abesh have decided to join us at what is an exciting time for the London office."
