Susan Cooke Named Boston Office Partner-in-Charge
BOSTON (March 21, 2006) — Susan Cooke has been named partner-in-charge of McDermott Will & Emery’s Boston office.
"Susan is a pioneer in the field of environmental law and is one of the country's outstanding practitioners in that area. She is also a wonderful colleague and proven leader," said Harvey Freishtat, Firm Chairman. "She will bring her many talents to the job of leading and growing the Boston office and will do an excellent job."
Ms. Cooke, who joined McDermott in 1996 and also heads the Firm's environmental practice, works on environmental and health and safety requirements throughout the United States and abroad. Her practice covers a wide range of programs which has included regulatory analyses and counseling, enforcement actions, permitting activities, Brownfields redevelopment, transactional practice, and development of legislative and regulatory proposals. Prior to entering private practice, she served as an enforcement attorney in the New England Regional Office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and also worked as a patent attorney in the private sector.
Ms. Cooke has chaired the Hazardous Waste Subcommittee of the American Bar Association Business Section Committee on Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law for several years and is a board member of Zoo New England.
