Silicon Valley Office Boosts IP Litigator Count with New Partner
PALO ALTO, CA (January 5, 2005) — The Silicon Valley office of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce Michele E. Moreland has joined the Firm's Intellectual Property Department as a partner. Ms. Moreland, an intellectual property litigator, represents clients involving a range of technology industries, including semiconductor, medical and mechanical devices, chemical arts and biotechnology.
"The addition of Michele, our first lateral in 2005, illustrates our continued effort to build our practice in California and in particularly our intellectual property practice in Silicon Valley," commented Anthony de Alcuaz, partner-in-charge of the Firm's Silicon Valley office. "Michele adds litigation strength to our growing team."
In two years, McDermott's Silicon Valley office has grown from 27 lawyers to 50 lawyers. Nearly 75% of the lawyers in Silicon Valley office are focused in the area of intellectual property, including 34 IP litigators lead by Terry McMahon. The office also includes a significant tax practice, headed by Fred Chilton.
Ms. Moreland received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. While there, she received an American Jurisprudence award, was a recipient of the 1996 Public Interest Endowment Summer Fellowship, received a High Technology Law Certificate and was on the Dean’s List. In addition, she was a staff member of the High Technology Law Journal and externed for Magistrate Judge Patricia V. Trumbull in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She received a B.A. in English from Santa Clara University in 1989.
Ms. Moreland is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
