Partner Receives Distinguished Service Award
CHICAGO — Carol Harrington, partner in McDermott Will & Emery’s Estate Planning Department, was recently honored by the Chicago Estate Planning Council, receiving the Austin Fleming Distinguished Service Award. Given annually, this award is presented to a person highly regarded by practicing estate planners for his or her expertise in the field, and who has made a significant contribution to the improvement of estate planning practices.
Ms. Harrington advises clients on a variety of matters, including estate, gift and generation- skipping tax issues, trust and estate administration, and contested trust and tax matters. She is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a member of its Board of Regents. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Estate Planning Council. Formerly a member of the Section Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section for the American Bar Association, Ms. Harrington is also the past chair of the Generation-Skipping Tax: Regulations and Legislation Committee for that Section and has been active in the Chicago Bar Association.
The Chicago Estate Planning Council, a 600 member group of estate planners, consists of attorneys, accountants, trust officers and CLUs. All members are nominated and elected to membership and must have a minimum of five years of experience in estate planning.
