Nationally Known Litigator Joins Trial Department

BOSTON — Edward P. Leibensperger, a nationally known trial lawyer and Vice President of the Boston Bar Association (BBA), has joined McDermott Will & Emery in Boston, where he will be a key figure in the Firm’s Trial Department.  His practice focuses on the litigation and trial of general business, corporate governance and professional liability cases.  He has also represented numerous clients in SEC investigations.

“Ned’s litigation experience, particularly in corporate governance, will be a significant addition to our firmwide corporate responsibility, securities and professional liability practices,” said Robert Bouma, head of the Firm’s Trial Department.  “His success in managing complex litigation is a great asset and will complement the talents of our existing trial lawyers.”

Mr. Leibensperger, formerly a partner at Nutter, McClennen & Fish, is a prominent figure in the Boston legal community.  His clients have included Big Four accounting firms, law firms and Fortune 100 companies, as well as many small businesses and individuals.  “I have been honored to work with some incredibly talented lawyers during my years at Nutter,” Mr. Leibensperger said.  “My move to McDermott will offer me a national platform to serve my clients.”  McDermott Will is an international law firm, which now ranks as the 12th largest law firm in the United States.

Mr. Leibensperger is in line to become the BBA President Elect later in 2004.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been selected annually for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America.  He was previously elected as a member of the governing council of the Section of Litigation of the American Bar Association.  He has also written and lectured extensively on complex litigation, professional liability and civil trial practice.
