Firm Announces New Partners in Italy
ROME, ITALY (18 October 2005) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that two corporate partners have joined from the Rome office of Delfino e Associati - Willkie Farr & Gallagher. Filippo Mazza, previously Willkie’s Rome office managing partner, and Carsten Steinhauer, who is qualified in both Germany and Italy, joined McDermott on October 1, 2005.

Filippo Mazza focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate, contracts, restructuring, real estate, and international arbitration. He has extensive experience in the energy, insurance and IT/software areas, mainly with international clients conducting transactions in Italy. He has published several articles and is a frequent lecturer at universities on the topic of international contracts and tender offers. He earned his law degree from “La Sapienza” in 1995, and was admitted to the Italian Bar in 1998. He is fluent in Italian, English and French.
Carsten Steinhauer is a German citizen, admitted to both the German and the Italian Bars. He focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate, contracts, corporate finance and project finance. He has extensive experience in structuring and negotiating corporate transactions, including cross-border transactions. He has published several articles on corporate and securities law in the Italian, German and English languages, as well as a book on insider trading and disclosure of price-sensitive events. He earned his law degree from the University of Freiburg in 1996, an LL.M. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1997, and a Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg in 1998. He was admitted to the German Bar in 2000 and to the Italian Bar in 2001.
