McDermott Ranked as Leading Patent Litigation Firm

CHICAGO (October 19, 2005) — McDermott Will & Emery’s Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department was recognized as one of the most active patent litigation firms as published by IP Law Bulletin. The Bulletin released a patent litigation survey, which ranked the top 25 patent litigation firms by the number of lawyers listed as counsel in federal dockets filed in the past two years. The survey, published on October 17, 2005, ranked McDermott second out of the 25 most active patent litigation firms in the United States, with 63 litigators listed as counsel.

The survey covered only the number of attorneys involved in patent litigation, not the number of cases covered by each firm. IP Law Bulletin's survey covered every case in all U.S. district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and counted the number of individuals at each firm listed as counsel in the case docket. Individuals appearing in more than one case docket were listed only once. The survey did not cover matters in the International Trade Commission, another forum in which McDermott frequently appears.

McDermott Will & Emery's Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department includes more than 175 lawyers and patent agents working in all of our offices throughout the world. We are renowned for our trial and appellate experience, and are ranked as one of the strongest IP litigation firms for both plaintiffs and defendants.
