McDermott Announces 2008 Equal Justice Works Fellow

NEW YORK (October 10, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Randi Levine has begun her two year fellowship with Equal Justice Works, sponsored by the Firm.  Ms. Levine is one of 54 Equal Justice Works Fellows in the Class of 2008.  Since 2005, McDermott has sponsored at least one new Equal Justice Works Fellow each year.

Ms. Levine is an outstanding law school graduate who already has significant experience working on behalf of children, including with the New York City Public Advocate's Child Welfare Office, New York University's Children's Rights Clinic, Jumpstart, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Suspension Representation Project (co-founder) and the Brooklyn Family Defense Project.  Ms. Levine's fellowship project will provide direct representation, outreach and policy advocacy for early intervention and education for low-income children up to age six in New York City.  During her two-year fellowship, she will be affiliated with Advocates for Children of New York.  McDermott anticipates that Firm lawyers and staff will have the opportunity to meet Ms. Levine and work with her on pro bono projects as part of the Firm's Kids First initiative.

McDermott recognizes and appreciates the need to give back to the communities in which we practice.  The Firm strongly encourages lawyers and staff to participate in pro bono and other community service activities.  McDermott's Global Pro Bono & Community Service Committee seeks to ensure that the same Firm standards of quality, service and care that are given to our paying clients are also afforded those we serve on a pro bono basis.
