Chicago Office Welcomes Employee Benefits Partner

CHICAGO (May 16, 2007) — The Chicago office of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to welcome Raymond Fernando as a partner in its Employee Benefits and European Labor Group.  Prior to joining McDermott, Mr. Fernando was senior counsel at Navistar International Corporation.

"Ray brings with him an in-house perspective that provides an added asset to our group," commented John Hendrickson, head of the Firm's Employee Benefits Department.  "Ray's experience is the right match with our practice, and we are excited to have him join us."

At Navistar, Mr. Fernando provided counsel with regard to all aspects of the company-sponsored employee compensation and benefit plans and programs, including incentive and equity-based compensation programs, tax-qualified and nonqualified retirement benefit plans, and welfare benefit plans.

Mr. Fernando received his J.D., cum laude, from the John Marshall Law School in 1996, and was a member of the editorial board of the John Marshall Law Review.  He received his B.S. in accounting, with honors, from Marquette University in 1992.  He is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States Tax Court.
