Consolidated Paper Merger Worth $5.9 Billion Closes
CHICAGO - McDermott Will & Emery recently closed the merger between Consolidated Papers, Inc. (NYSE: CDP) and Finland based, forestry giant Stora Enso Oyj (Helsinki Stock Exchange: STERV), creating the largest producer of paper and board worldwide. The transaction, valued at $5.9 billion, is the largest business combination advised on by McDermott Will & Emery this year.
The corporate legal team, led by Robert Schreck, was comprised of Fred Axley. The deal involved legal issues in the areas of corporate governance, employee benefits, pensions, public utilities and securities.
