London Partner Named Among Leading Influential Women in the United Kingdom

LONDON (5 November 2007) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce Juliet Blanch, a trial partner in the Firm’s London office, was recognized in the October issue of Legal Business as one of the most 50 influential women in the UK legal market overall, and one of the seven most influential women in litigation and international dispute resolution.  Ms. Blanch is head of the Firm’s International Dispute Resolution Group.

Legal Business highlighted Ms. Blanch’s courtroom skills noting that an opposing [male] counsel watched Ms. Blanch’s approach to interviewing traumatized witnesses and "was convinced that he should always have a female lawyer present."  Ms. Blanch was also quoted on the challenges of gender diversity in law firms.  "I never made the mistake of trying to be more boyish than the boys…I learned quickly that you could be true to yourself and succeed."

Ms. Blanch is recognized as a leader in her field by Chambers for "her enthusiasm, dedication and magnificent reputation have been a considerable factor in winning instructions on big ticket arbitrations and unusual mix of commercial appreciation, technical ability and personable nature".  Legal 500 describes her as "a rare blend of practicality and technical excellence."  She was also recently ranked 15 of the top 30 female arbitrators globally in Global Arbitration Review.
