New York Capital Markets Practice Adds New Partner

NEW YORK (February 1, 2005) — McDermott Will & Emery today announced that Peter Humphreys, formerly of Dewey Ballantine LLP has joined the Firm’s New York office as a partner.  For the past three years, he has been selected to the BTI Consulting Client Service All-Star Team based on a survey of corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies.  He has also been selected as one of the leading securitization lawyers in the world by Euromoney.  The addition of Mr. Humphreys adds new depth to the Firm's capacity to advise its international financial market clients on structured finance and securitization transactions.

"Peter brings a perspective commensurate with many years of in-depth experience with complex securitization transactions," said Peter J. Peter’s team advances our continued commitment to enhance our finance practice,” commented Tom McGavin, who joined McDermott in January 2004 from Clifford Chance to head the Firm's capital markets practice.  "His experience complements the strong team we have in place."

Mr. Humphreys has served as counsel on a wide range of securitizations including financings of credit card receivables, franchise loans, home equity loans, commercial mortgages, residential mortgages, auto loans, utility receivables and stranded costs, trade receivables, health care receivables, bank loans, and equipment and operating leases.  He also has experience in other public and private capital markets transactions, and the development of new financial products for U.S. and offshore transactions in both the public and private markets.

"I am excited to be joining the growing team at McDermott," commented Mr. Humphreys.  "My decision was based on the opportunity to join an outstanding firm supporting a sophisticated global practice."

Mr. Humphreys is admitted to practice in New York and Washington, D.C.  He earned his LL.B. with honors from the University of London, England in 1976.  He earned his B.C.L. with honors in 1978 from Oxford University, England, and his J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University in 1981.
