McDermott Formalizes East Texas Patent Litigation Group
HOUSTON, TX (September 19, 2008) — In response to the ever increasing number of patent litigation matters being filed in the Eastern District of Texas, McDermott Will & Emery’s Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department has formalized an East Texas Patent Litigation Group. The Eastern District of Texas has become the most popular jurisdiction for patent litigation matters, and this new group pools together the various existing talent around the Firm to monitor and oversee the patent cases and business activity required by our clients. Lawyers within the Firm's intellectual property practice have extensive experience litigating patent cases in the Eastern District of Texas. McDermott has represented clients in more than 50 patent cases in that district over the past several years.

The East Texas Patent Litigation Group will be led by Firm partner Mr. Morisseau, who has been a licensed Texas attorney for more than 30 years. He has handled more than 50 patent cases in East Texas over the past eight years. He is currently the head of McDermott Will & Emery's Orange County and Houston offices. Intellectual property partner David Stein will serve as the group's chief operations officer (COO). Mr. Stein has been a licensed Texas attorney for more than 12 years, and he has handled more than 20 patent cases in East Texas over the past eight years.
