Vera Elson Named Among the Top Women Litigators in California

SILICON VALLEY (May 14, 2008) — The international law firm of McDermott Will & Emery is very pleased to announce that Vera Elson, head of the Silicon Valley Office's Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, has been named among the Top Women Litigators in California by the Daily Journal.  The Top Women Litigators were selected based on the outstanding work and cases they handled during the past year.

"Vera is a leader of our Intellectual Property Department," commented Terrence McMahon, head of the global Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department.  "Vera's IP successes illustrate her commitment to excellence and to our clients."

Ms. Elson brings a unique skill set to the courtroom because she understands both trials and technology—having earned her master's in electrical engineering from the University of California Los Angeles and having spent several years as a designer of high-speed integrated circuits with Hughes Aircraft's Advanced Circuit Technology Laboratory.  She has managed and successfully tried to verdict numerous technology-related intellectual property cases in federal and state courts, and has extensive experience representing clients before the International Trade Commission.  Ms. Elson has represented companies including Seagate, VirnetX, Extreme Networks, Broadcom Corporation, Qualcomm, General Electric, Linear Technology, Conner Peripherals, and OPTi Computer.

In 2008, Ms. Elson was named a Women of Influence in Silicon Valley by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal and named among the Top 50 Intellectual Property Litigators by the Daily Journal.  Ms. Elson has been recognized by Chambers USA in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 as a leading lawyer in intellectual property, based on client interviews and peer reviews.  She served on the faculty of the 2007 Sedona Conference on Patent Litigation and has been a regular presenter at the Practising Law Institute's IP litigation conferences.
