Industry Standard for Energy Price Index
WASHINGTON, DC - McDermott Will & Emery serves as general counsel to the Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO), which recently released its new white paper entitled "Best Practices for Energy Price Indices" at a press event at the National Press Club. The paper is a voluntary industry-wide standard that sets forth recommendations the energy industry can take to help restore credibility to published price indices for the sale of natural gas and electric power. The white paper has received significant attention from media, industry participants, and federal regulators. McDermott Will & Emery lawyers provided legal advice during all phases of the development of the white paper, including counseling on standard-setting, intellectual property and energy issues.
The CCRO represents 31 energy companies that account for approximately half of the power and natural gas transactions in the United States. McDermott, Will & Emery provides legal representation to the CCRO, including advice on incorporation, creation of association membership requirements and voting procedures, antitrust advice in creating voluntary standards, protection of intellectual property, regulatory counseling and assistance in interacting with various federal regulatory agencies.
