Partner Named Fellow of American College of Employee Benefits Counsel

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Paul M. Hamburger, an employee benefits partner in McDermott Will & Emery's Washington, D.C. office, has been selected as a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.

The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel was created to elevate the standards and advance the public's understanding of the practice of employee benefits law.  Fellows in the College are a select group of employee benefits attorneys who have practiced for at least 20 years and have dedicated their careers to the employee benefits field.  To be inducted, one must be nominated by two members of the College and must generally be recognized by his or her peers for expertise in the field and intellectual excellence. Selection as a Fellow is a high honor and demonstrates a significant contribution to the field of employee benefits over a career.

In December 2002, Mr. Hamburger was also named as a member of the National Advisory Committee for the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB), a nonprofit professional association of nearly 2,000 members representing more than 25 professions and 30 areas of expertise within the pension and benefits industry.

Mr. Hamburger, who heads the Firm's Washington, D.C. Employee Benefits Practice is the author of many publications related to the COBRA continuation coverage requirements and many other areas of employee benefits law.  Mr. Hamburger is also a frequent speaker on COBRA continuation coverage requirements as well as other employee benefits matters.
