McDermott's IP Practice Receives High Rankings
CHICAGO (February 13, 2006) — McDermott Will & Emery’s Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department was identified in two recent surveys ranking the practice among the leading practices both in the United States and globally. The Firm was named among the World Leading Patent Firms in a survey published by Managing Intellectual Property (February 2006), and McDermott was recognized among the top 10 of patent litigation practices in a survey released by IP Law360.
Managing Intellectual Property's annual World Leading Patent Firms' Survey ranks leading IP firms across 60 countries. McDermott was identified as a leading IP practice in the U.S., German and UK regions. Specifically, the Firm was recognized in patent litigation and patent prosecution in the United States, and in Germany and the UK were identified as leaders for patent litigation. In a synopsis ranking, McDermott was also among the top tier of the firms ranked in the most practice specialties and regions. This survey is based on interviews of companies and practitioners worldwide that are asked which firms are rated by their peers for the strength of their expertise and the depth of their ability to service clients.
McDermott was also recognized in the top 10 of IP Law360's Patent Litigation Survey which identified the 100 most frequently hired litigation practices in the United States. The survey measured how frequently a firm was hired in new patent litigation in 2005. McDermott was listed as responsible for 41 new cases in 2005.
