IP Partner Rejoins McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago

CHICAGO (July 16, 2007) — The international law firm McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce Michael Switzer has rejoined the Firm as partner in the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department based in the Chicago office.

Mr. Switzer concentrates his practice on litigation, licensing and client counseling.  He has litigated numerous cases before the federal courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission.  His litigation practice has involved divergent technologies such as spinal fusion medical devices, RAID storage devices, facsimile machines, analog and digital circuit designs, and semiconductor processes.

Prior to rejoining the Firm, Mr. Switzer was a senior patent counsel for a leading medical device company.  He has also served as an in-house U.S. patent counsel for Hitachi, Ltd.  During his time with Hitachi, Mr. Switzer worked in the IP Licensing Department and resided in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Switzer received his J.D. cum laude from the American University, Washington College of Law and his B.S. in electrical engineering from Union College.  He is admitted to practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia and Connecticut.  Mr. Switzer is also registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
