McDermott Announces Resolution of Term Paper Case

McDermott Will & Emery represented Blue Macellari, a graduate student at Duke University, in a suit against R2C2, Incorporated and Digitalsmiths Corporation.  McDermott represented the student on a pro bono basis.  The suit related to the alleged unauthorized use on three Web sites owned and operated by R2C2, Inc. of a manuscript Ms. Macellari had written while an undergraduate.  The suit was filed in the Southern District of Illinois on August 31, 2005.  The parties have worked to negotiate a successful resolution of the case, the terms of which will remain confidential.  Ms. Macellari was pleased with the results.  McDermott was assisted by Teasdale, Murphy & O’Grady LLP of St. Louis, Missouri.
