Miami Partner Appointed to Southern District of Florida's Federal Judicial Bar and Community Liaison Committee
MIAMI (October 30, 2007) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce partner Raquel "Rocky" Rodriguez has been appointed, by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Federico A. Moreno, to the Southern District of Florida’s Federal Judicial Bar and Community Liaison Committee. Members of the committee include current and former U.S. attorneys, community and business leaders, and top lawyers in the legal community.
Established in 1995, the Federal Judicial Bar and Community Liaison Committee provides, "assistance, advice and counsel to the Court, the Bar and the community the Court serves." Such matters include court funding, facilities and resources, practices and procedures, appointment of judges, liaison with the Executive Branch and Congress, members of the Bar, role and duties of offices and agencies serving the Federal courts, and federalization of state causes of actions, among other things.
Ms. Rodriguez, a trial partner based in the Firm’s Miami office, joined McDermott in February 2007 after serving as general counsel to Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Her practice focuses on commercial and international dispute resolution, Florida constitutional and election law, crisis and risk management and avoidance, government ethics, economic development incentives and inter-governmental relations.
For many years, Ms. Rodriguez was active in the American Bar Association and held many leadership positions, including Chair of the Young Lawyers Division, Executive Council member of the Section of International Law and Practice and member of the House of Delegates. Since 2003, she has been a member of the Florida Bar Judicial Nomination Procedures Committee.
