Three California Partners Named Top Intellectual Property Attorneys

MENLO PARK/IRVINE, CA (April 7, 2010) — The Daily Journal has selected three of McDermott Will & Emery’s California intellectual property partners for its annual Top Intellectual Property Attorneys list.  Terry McMahon and Yar Chaikovsky, both partners in the Firm's Silicon Valley intellectual property practice, were named among the Top 75 Intellectual Property Litigators.  Mark Itri, head of the Firm's IP Prosecution, Transactions & Strategy Practice Group, was named among the Top 25 Portfolio Managers.

Mr. McMahon concentrates his practice on patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark and other high stakes litigation.  He has more than 30 years of trial experience representing leading technology companies including Extreme Networks Inc., General Electric, Infineon Technologies AG, Sybase and Seagate Technology, among others.  Mr. McMahon frequently lectures and provides live demonstrations on trial practice and computer law issues.

Mr. Chaikovsky has 16 years of experience litigating on matters for companies in all stages of development, from start-ups to established companies.  Before both district courts and the International Trade Commission, he has litigated in technology fields as diverse as networking, software, hardware, internet, communications, video compression, semiconductors, consumer electronics, analog devices and medical devices.  Previously, he was head patent counsel for Yahoo!.

Mr. Itri has more than 19 years of legal experience handling patent and trademark portfolio management, opinion work and due diligence in connection with technology and trademark acquisitions.  Over the course of his career Mr. Itri has gained extensive experience in client counseling, negotiating and drafting technology transfer agreements, joint development agreements and licenses for leading technology clients.
