Washington, D.C. Attorney Named a Member of CFTC's Energy Markets Advisory Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 5, 2008) — The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced that Paul Pantano, head of McDermott Will & Emery's Energy & Derivatives Markets Practice Group, will be a member in its recently formed Energy Markets Advisory Committee. The committee is designed to provide a public forum to examine emerging issues related to the energy markets and the CFTC's role in these markets under the Commodity Exchange Act.
Mr. Lukken, CFTC Acting Chairman, commented, "In these historic times for the markets, I am pleased to have such a diverse and knowledgeable group of energy industry participants to assist the Commission in its role in policing the energy markets."

Mr. Pantano, representing the Futures Industry Association, is one of 25 committee members. In addition to the representative members, the CFTC has invited officials from the Congressional Research Service, the Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Federal Trade Commission to participate as Official Observers. The first meeting is scheduled for June 10, 2008.
Mr. Pantano focuses his practice primarily in the areas of energy, commodities and derivatives law. Mr. Pantano represents energy companies, commodity dealers, brokerage firms, trade associations and financial industry professionals in a wide variety of transactional, regulatory and litigation matters.
Mr. Pantano is the Chair of the American Bar Association Committee on the Regulation of Futures & Derivative Instruments. He is a member of the board of editors of the Futures & Derivatives Law Report, and has authored several articles for that and other industry publications. In addition, he is a frequent speaker at financial and energy industry conferences. Chambers USA ranked Paul as one of the top energy lawyers in Washington, D.C.
