McDermott Announces Participants in Public Interest Fellowship Program
BOSTON (March 24, 2009) — Continuing our tradition of community service, McDermott Will & Emery LLP is pleased to announce that six of our departing associates have chosen to work at community service organizations as public interest fellows. The fellowship program, underwritten by the Firm, provides Class of 2008 associates affected by the Firm's recent reduction in force with valuable work experience serving community interest organizations. Associates participating in the program receive a monthly stipend, enabling them to work on a full-time basis with their chosen agency.

The fellowships support the following organizations:

Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, which represents low-income individuals in family law, consumer law, probate, tort, government benefits and immigration cases.

Equip for Equality, which furthers the human and civil rights of children and adults with mental and physical disabilities in Illinois through legal services, self-advocacy assistance and disability rights education.

The Public Law Center, which strives to provide low-income residents of Orange County, California with access to justice and free civil legal services.

Sanctuary for Families, the largest nonprofit in New York State, which supports domestic violence victims and their children through the provision of clinical, legal, shelter, children’s and economic stability services.

The William J. Clinton Foundation, which focuses on global climate change, HIV/AIDS, economic development in Africa and Latin America and child obesity and economic opportunity in the United States.
