London Office Advises Tony Bramall on his Acquisition of a 24.4 Percent Stake in Lookers PLC
LONDON (28 April 2006) — The law firm of McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP advised family companies connected with Tony Bramall (Bramall interests), former chairman of car dealer CD Bramall, in their acquisition of a 24.4 percent stake in car dealer Lookers. The Bramall interests purchased General Electric’s stake in Lookers for £55.7million in cash.
The acquisition comes amidst a hostile takeover bid of Lookers by Pendragon, who only two years ago acquired CD Bramall for £230 million, a deal on which McDermott Will & Emery also advised.
Lookers plc is a multi-franchise car dealership company specialising in the sale, hire and maintenance of motor vehicles, with 93 dealers throughout the UK and a history which dates back to 1908.
