McDermott Appoints Top M&A Lawyer as European Head of Corporate
LONDON (14 January 2008) — The international law firm McDermott Will & Emery has announced that Hugh Nineham will join the London office as a partner and Head of European and London Corporate. He joins the Firm from Lovells where he was most recently Head of the corporate finance practice, having previously spent two years in New York and five years in the Hong Kong office leading the firm's Hong Kong corporate practice.
He focuses his practice in mergers, acquisitions and securities transactions frequently with a significant cross-border component, and he is generally regarded as one of the leading corporate finance lawyers in London. He has acted on numerous high profile transactions, including most recently, Temasek's £1 billion investment in Barclays and advising ITV on the proposed acquisition by NTL.
Commenting on his appointment, McDermott's Global Chairman, Harvey Freishtat, said: "Hugh is an excellent lawyer with a market leading reputation. McDermott's London office finished 2007 with double digit revenue growth results in the best financial year since its foundation in 1998. The London office was involved in a number of high profile, precedent-setting transactions, including the Schefenacker reorganization, acting for Lloyds TSB in the €6 billion synthetic SME securitization and representing the sponsor in relation to a €1.2 billion Greek motorway project financing.
