McDermott Partner Elected to the District of Columbia Bar Board of Governors
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 25, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Ankur J. Goel, partner in the Firm's Health Law Department based in Washington, D.C., has been elected to the District of Columbia Bar Board of Governors. The Board of Governors is the governing body of the D.C. Bar and is the nation's second largest mandatory Bar Association. The Board of Governors is selected by vote of the members.
"Ankur's election is an endorsement by his peers in the D.C. Bar, and we are delighted to see this recognition of his professional contributions and leadership," commented Joel Michaels, partner-in-charge of the Health Law Department in McDermott's Washington, D.C. office.
As a member of the Firm's Health Law Department, Mr. Goel focuses on assisting companies in significant government enforcement actions, internal compliance matters, and complex litigation matters, with particular expertise in the health care industry. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Goel held key positions in government, as a federal fraud prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice and as Counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. At the Justice Department, he prosecuted government contracts, securities fraud, and health care fraud cases, including grand jury investigations and federal jury trials.
Mr. White focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Conference of Bar Presidents, the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, the National Bar Association, the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia, GAYLAW, the Washington Bar Association, and the Edward Bennett Williams Inn of Court, an organization of judges, attorneys and prosecutors dedicated to fostering civility and higher learning in all areas of white-collar criminal law.
