MWE D.C. Office Adds Corporate Partner
WASHINGTON, D.C. — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Thomas Conaghan has joined the Firm's Corporate Department as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office. Mr. Conaghan advises U.S. and foreign issuers on U.S. corporate and securities law matters, including public disclosure, SEC periodic reporting and corporate governance. He also advises on the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
“Tom will be instrumental as a member of our corporate group in D.C.,” commented Tim Waters, partner-in-charge of the Firm’s Washington, D.C. office. “His in-depth experience and talent, particularly in cross-border corporate transactions, is a significant asset for our multinational clients.”
Mr. Conaghan’s experience includes representing U.S. and foreign issuers in public and private securities offerings, including IPOs, secondary public offerings, rights offerings and shelf registrations of debt and equity securities. He has represented public and private companies in strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, asset sales and purchases, and stock sales and purchases. His experience also includes representing start-up companies in initial organization and private equity finance transactions.
Mr. Conaghan spent two years practicing in the London office of a leading U.S. firm focusing his practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and the representation of foreign companies seeking financing in the U.S. capital markets. He also assisted foreign issuers with U.S. SEC reporting, including the preparation of Form 20-F annual reports.
He earned his J.D. cum laude and his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland, and, as a solicitor, Mr. Conaghan is qualified to practice before the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
