Douglas E. Whitney Named President of CASA of Cook County
CHICAGO (March 14, 2006) — Douglas E. Whitney, a McDermott Will & Emery trial partner, has been named president of the board of directors of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Cook County. CASA of Cook County is a nonprofit organization that recruits and trains volunteers to advocate in Juvenile Court on behalf of abused and neglected children.
In addition, the Chicago office of McDermott is proud to again support CASA's annual Put Your Foot Down 5K Run and Walk as a principal sponsor. The Put Your Foot Down Race will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at 6:30 pm in Lincoln Park. All proceeds will fund programs to help protect abused and neglected children—critical funding and support for the work of CASA volunteers. Mr. Whitney practices in the area of white collar criminal defense and complex commercial litigation. He regularly represents companies and executives in governmental investigations, agency proceedings, arbitration, and federal and state court litigation across the country. Prior to attending law school, he spent two years teaching fifth grade as a charter corps member of Teach for America, and before joining McDermott, he spent several years as a federal public defender with the Federal Defender Program of the Northern District of Illinois.
