McDermott Ranks as Leading Patent Litigation Firm
SILICON VALLEY (July 10, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery has once again been recognized as one of the most active patent litigation firms in IP Law & Business' annual patent litigation survey (July 2008). McDermott ranked as a leading patent litigation firm in the United States, with a total of 44 new patent cases filed in 2007, at the district court level. With 11 appeals in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, on behalf of both appellants and appellees, McDermott ranked as one of the most active firms handling patent appeals.
McDermott proves to be the go-to firm for patent litigation and has consistently ranked as one of the most active patent litigation firms in the United States. This excellent recognition follows yet another significant accomplishment as McDermott was most recently recognized as one of the most active firms before the International Trade Commission (ITC) in 2007 by IP Law & Business in a survey published in its June 2008 issue.
The cases included in IP Law & Business' survey were patent cases filed during calendar year 2007 in U.S. federal district courts or on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The district court cases had to be active for at least two months during the year.
"This success is due in large part to our continued commitment to our IP practice. It further reflects of our commitment to providing our clients with excellent legal advice and proven results," said Terrence P. McMahon, head of the Firm's global IP, Media & Technology Department.
McDermott's Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department has one of the largest concentrations of patent, trademark and copyright prosecution, licensing and litigation services worldwide. The Firm is recognized for its trial and appellate experience and clients describe the Firm as "one of the most complete IP groups around…[with] the firepower to handle the most complex IP issues" (Chambers USA).
