European Commission Invites Comments on Motor Vehicle Block Exemption
07/14/2006On 14 July 2006, the European Commission published a report on developments in the car sector since the entry into force of the new motor vehicle block exemption. The report observes "substantial" changes taking place in the last few years, most particularly with a concentration of dealer networks as the big manufacturers restructure following the block exemption reform. Broadly the report notes it is too early to see if the new law is having the desired effect but observes that access to technical information and the cost of specialist diagnostic tools are still a major concern to car repair and maintenance providers.
The Commission has invited reactions to and comments on the study to be submitted by 30 October 2006. We would be happy to put any views, comments or opinions to the Commission that you may have in this regard.
