From 1 April 2003, employers applying for work permits will be affected by the following changes:

1. £95 charge

Applications for Work Permits, Work Permit Extensions, Change of Employment and Appeals will be subject to a £95 fee.

Who will have to pay?

Prospective employers based in the UK making applications to recruit overseas nationals (there are a number of exceptions listed on the Home Office website, the link to which can be found at the end of this document).

2. Change of Address

All application forms will need to be posted to the following address:

Work Permits (UK)

Integrated Casework Directorate, North (Sheffield)

PO Box 551

Heavens Walk

Doncaster Carr

Doncaster

South Yorkshire DN1 1XU

The processing of any applications sent to the previous address at Moorfoot will be delayed as a result of having to be forwarded to the above address.

3. When will the charge take effect?

The charge will take effect from 1 April 2003. All applications received on or after 1 April 2003 which are not accompanied by the £95 fee will be returned.

New forms to be used from 1 April 2003 are due to be published by the Home Office by the end of this week.

4. Electronic application service will be temporarily suspended from 1 April 2003

Due to the implementation of the £95 charge, employers will not be able to send applications by email after 1 April 2003 until further notice. This is to ensure that the personal security and financial integrity of all companies applying for work permits is protected.
