Government Strategies - Alcohol Beverages & Products

Our Alcohol Beverages and Products Group has extensive experience in advocacy before legislative bodies and regulatory agencies at both the federal and state level.  Our lawyers provide legislative strategy and support services to clients, both large and small, for initiatives before the U.S. Congress and state legislatures across the country.  We regularly represent industry coalitions and individual companies in rulemaking proceedings conducted by federal agencies and in informal negotiations with the Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) and state regulatory agencies as they consider the development of new regulatory policies and standards.  Our lawyers are in close communication with all national alcohol beverage trade associations and government groups in the U.S.

Our alcohol beverage clients also can benefit from the resources of our Firm's highly respected Government Strategies Group based in our Washington, D.C. office.  We maintain close ties to the leadership teams and key decision-makers in the U.S. Congress, the White House, and federal agencies and departments.  We monitor and work on issues before virtually every congressional committee on a myriad of issues, from tax, trade and health matters to issues before panels on agriculture, banking, commerce, energy, the environment, the judiciary and labor.  We also are active in the appropriations process.

Overall, the Firm works extensively with trade associations on a variety of legislative and regulatory issues.  Our IP Department counsels associations on trademark, trade name, copyright, trade secret and computer law issues.  On the antitrust side, we counsel associations on the antitrust implications of a wide range of their activities, including statistical programs, membership criteria, codes of ethics, lobbying and issues of self-regulation.   In addition, we represent many associations in a wide variety of litigation matters.
