IP Legislation

Our intellectual property practice represents clients with respect to legislation and government regulation affecting intellectual property. Our lawyers monitor developments in copyright, patent and trademark law and have actively represented clients’ interests in shaping legislation and regulation. We played an active role in negotiating the 1996 World Intellectual Property Organization copyright treaties and in influencing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998. We represent clients on such issues as audio and video performances on the internet and resolution of copyright, standards and licensing matters before the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) . Our work in the legislative area is coordinated with the Firm’s recognized and respected Government Strategies Group .
