e-Business - Telecom
Our Group, with the assistance of the Firm's e-Business Group, advises clients on legal and regulatory issues relating to the internet and e-commerce.
REPRESENTATIVE SERVICES
- Counsel on regulatory and legislative developments that impact emerging technologies, including IP telephony, DSL, cable modem, powerline carrier, wireless transmission service and other facilities comprising the infrastructure and backbone of the internet
- Advice on U.S. federal and state telecommunications laws, copyright laws and other intellectual property issues applicable to Internet Service Providers
- Provision of guidance on the FCC's position with respect to the applicability of reciprocal compensation and access charges to internet traffic
- Advice on legal issues related to the use of the internet for radio and television broadcasts and telephone service
- Development of legislative and regulatory strategies to address copyright issues related to the distribution of DTV and other digital media
- Participation in the development of legislation, including the 1996 World Intellectual Property Organization copyright treaties, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the Secure Digital Music Initiative
- Advice to private microwave licensees on the feasibility of using their systems to provide internet access to themselves, their customers and third parties
