Labor Relations - United States
Our lawyers regularly represent a wide variety of unionized employers in collective bargaining negotiations, arbitration and mediation of all types of employment disputes, and in election and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board. We have extensive experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements throughout the United States in a number of different industries with most of the major national and international unions, including the United Steelworkers of America (USWA), International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), International Association of Machinists (IAM), United Auto Workers, United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW), International Union of Electrical Workers, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the former Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers, and the International Union of Operating Engineers.
We also regularly provide advice to employers in connection with strike preparation, including coordination of public relations, political relations, security and operations with temporary and permanent replacements, and we have provided assistance to numerous employers in connection with the planning and implementation of plant shutdowns, downsizing and relocation, when necessary, bargaining with unions over the effects and/or the decision, itself.
In addition, we have established ourselves as a recognized leader for providing representation in connection with labor and pension matters to troubled companies, their creditors and parties interested in acquiring their assets in proceedings under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.
