The Section 1603 grant, a renewable energy cornerstone of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that has supercharged significant new investment into the renewable energy industry, will expire at year’s end.  Although this is the second round of planning for the expiration of the Section 1603 grant program, recent developments have better defined planning opportunities, particularly with respect to the "beginning construction" requirements of Section 1603, so that projects projected to go into service post-2011 may be eligible.

Please join McDermott Will & Emery’s renewable energy tax and finance team for a panel discussion addressing:

  • Planning for the possible Section 1603 grant sunset, including interacting with production, investment or other tax credits and grants
  • The effects of placed-in-service dates for wind, solar and other renewables
  • The status of potential legislative tax-related efforts with respect to renewables
  • Impact and Section 1603 planning with respect to other transaction documents, such as engineering, procurement and construction contracts
