The enactment of the America Invents Act (AIA) in September 2011 was the most significant patent reform law in half a century. This act changed the United States’ “first-to-invent” patent system to a “first-to-file“ patent system, and included several other important changes. In addition to the AIA, many important decisions were issued in other areas of patent law, including inequitable conduct, patent damages and joint infringement.
The beginning of 2012 provides a good opportunity to analyze major developments and changes in patent law. We hope you will join us for a program summarizing 2011’s major events in patent law, analyzing the impact of those events and previewing upcoming high-profile patent cases in 2012. During the program we will discuss how to navigate the changing patent landscape in order to strengthen and maintain your company’s intellectual property position.
