On March 23, 2009, the U.S. Treasury announced certain details of the Public-Private Partnership Investment Program. The multi-faceted program is intended to facilitate the pricing and sale of loans on the books of U.S. banks and thrift institutions (through the Legacy Loan Program) and outstanding asset-backed securities, particularly those backed by residential and commercial real estate (through the Legacy Securities Program).
