Overview
Peter Brunovskis, PhD*, has over 20 years of intellectual property (IP) law firm experience in the preparation, prosecution and portfolio management of hundreds of US and foreign patent applications in a variety of fields including biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, polymeric film and material science applications. Peter has extensive experience in the areas of gene therapy, cancer biology, antiviral agents, molecular immunology, vaccines, antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, chimeric antigen receptors, pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.
Peter has evaluated the patentability of pharmaceutical drug patents, assisted with freedom-to-operate and patentability opinions, formulated freedom-to-operate and invalidity searches, and provided due diligence support and evaluation of various patent portfolios. He has also provided pre-litigation and trial support in support of strategy formulation relating to infringement, validity and enforceability issues.
Peter is a former patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he examined patent applications in the areas of gene therapy, viral and non-viral expression vectors, DNA and protein sequences, diagnostic methods, and transgenic animals. Prior to his IP career, Peter was a laboratory researcher with over 14 years of molecular virology and gene therapy experience and was a co-author of 12 research publications and co-inventor of six US patents.
