Pro Bono

The people of McDermott Will & Emery are committed to giving back to the communities where they work and live.  The Firm recognizes and appreciates the need to give back to the communities of which it is a part, assisting those who are unable to afford legal services.  We strongly encourage our lawyers and staff to participate in pro bono activities, volunteer services and charitable activities.  Our Pro Bono & Community Services Committee seeks to ensure that the same Firm standards of quality, service and care that are given to our paying clients are also afforded to those we serve on a pro bono basis.

The communities that we serve recognize the Firm's commitment.  The Firm's Silicon Valley office was selected by the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County for its 2006 Guardian of Justice Award and the State Bar of California has chosen the Silicon Valley office as one of only three California firms to receive its 2006 President’s Pro Bono Service Award.  In 2005, the Firm was awarded the Circle of Humanitarians Award, the highest honor bestowed by the American Red Cross.  Also in 2007, the Firm's Washington, D.C. office was named the co-recipient of the District of Columbia Bar Association's Pro Bono "Law Firm of the Year" award and received the Vincent E. Reed Award for its commitment to public education in the District of Columbia.

We understand our unique abilities as lawyers to enhance the lives of those in need, and by making a positive contribution, we hope to enrich the lives of those at McDermott Will & Emery.
