Overview
Theodore (Ted) E. Alexander focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense, regulatory enforcement and compliance matters, and complex civil litigation.
Ted has substantial experience conducting internal investigations and representing clients in healthcare, securities, and other government enforcement matters. He has conducted independent investigations on behalf of audit and special litigation committees of the board of directors and has handled criminal and civil healthcare matters for various organizations, including in connection with alleged violations of the False Claims Act, Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, and matters arising under the Stark law.
Prior to joining McDermott, Ted worked on the legislative staffs of various members of Congress. Most recently, he served as legislative director to a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he advised on health, tax, and trade policy. He has experience drafting and implementing legislation.
Ted maintains an active pro bono practice representing domestic violence victims in obtaining Civil Protection Order with the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project.
While in law school, Ted served as an articles editor for The George Washington Law Review.

- Represented a major US public audit firm in connection with investigations by the PCAOB
- Represented a major consulting firm in contracting dispute, which resulted in a favorable settlement
- Represented a major retailer in litigation regarding product branding, which resulted in a favorable settlement
- Defended Fortune 500 companies in successfully dismissing and settling claims made under the Americans with Disabilities Act
