Gay Group Fights Motion to Dismiss Lawsuit Against U.S. Justice Dept.

McDermott Washington pro bono lawyers, representing LGBT rights group The Mattachine Society, filed a motion in federal court opposing the Justice Department’s move to dismiss a Freedom of Information Act request for documents on government persecution of LGBT federal employees in the 1950s and 1960s. The Firm’s motion called the DOJ’s search for the requested documents “unreasonable and inadequate.”
