Andrea Kramer, co-author of “Breaking Through Bias: Communication Techniques for Women to Succeed at Work,” shared in this video an anecdote from early in her career. A client heard her called into a meeting by her nickname “Andie” and refused to work with her upon learning she was a woman. “I put my hand on his shoulder and said, ‘I’m sure we can do a much better job if I go out [of the meeting] and come back in again,’” Ms. Kramer recalled.
